The Year of the Hangman

It is 1777, and the rebellious American Colonies have been soundly defeated by the British. After an evening of drinking and gambling, fifteen-year-old Creighton Brown is abducted outside his London home and taken away on a British ship. On board Creighton learns that his destination is Carolina-the colony where his father was killed in a skirmish and where his uncle is in command. He also discovers that his mother is behind the kidnapping.
