The Battle for St. Michaels

During the War of 1812, the people of St. Michaels, a settlement on the Maryland coast, anticipate a British attack. When the British fleet is sighted, the townsfolk evacuate. Twelve-year-old Caroline Banning is determined to stay and help protet her hometown. As the fastest runner in the community, she carries messages for the defending soldiers and spreads the word when a plan is hatched to save the village. Full-color art.
