Dogs may be man’s best friend—but dogs can also be man’s heroes. This heartwarming collection recounts seven stories of brave canines. Coming to the rescue in fires, burglaries, and other dangerous situations, these dogs risked their lives to help their owners. Many have received medals for their service, such as Shana, a German shepherd-wolf mix. When she and her elderly owners were trapped outside during a sudden, fierce snowstorm, she kept them from freezing to death by digging a tunnel through the snow and pulling them to safety. Captioned color photographs of the dogs and their owners accompany the stories, along with other relevant images.
