Margaret wants nothing more than to become a doctor just like her father, but a female doctor is practically unheard of in early twentieth-century Vermont, and she is constantly reminded of how hard a doctor’s life really is. When a terrible virus breaks out, threatening her community and her family, it’s suddenly up to Margaret to make the right choice.
